A brief description of the department:
We have a small program that has recently been re-instated after a five year hiatus. We anticipate having around 5-7 MA students at any given time. Our particular focus will be on developing language skills and the cross-fertilization of language with other aspects of the ancient world, including material culture.
Particular strengths or unique areas of interest for the department: Greek and Latin language; ancient philosophy; Latin poetry; Roman social history

Applicants should have an Honours degree in Classics or a related field, including at least two years study in both Greek and Latin. Students expecting to complete the M.A. degree within 12 months must have at least 24 undergraduate credit hours in one language (Greek or Latin) and 18 undergraduate credit hours in the other. Other applicants may be required to take 3 or more credit hours at the undergraduate level, in addition to their graduate course work.
Approximate percentage of incoming students given full funding: We provide funding for all qualified incoming students.
Number of guaranteed years of funding: One year of funding is available for the MA.
Out of those years, number student will be expected or required to serve as TA, RA, or the like: Funding in most cases is tied to TA or RA duties.
